This 1946 Colonial was reconfigured to allow for modern comfort while maintaining the home’s inherent character. The kitchen was relocated from its original footprint at the center of the home to a corner room with ample natural light, allowing for the simultaneous creation of gracious dining and kitchen spaces. In the dining room, walls were removed and antique leaded glass doors were installed, filtering light into the space while also creating a level of coziness suited to large family gatherings and holiday meals. In the kitchen, the picture window became a focal point, now a bench seat that encourages old and young alike to pause and watch the birds in the backyard. Throughout the home, original features were brought back to life—such as the powder room wall covering, stair banister, and door hardware—and paired with natural hues that echo the surrounding gardens and wildlife.
